Aesthetics of Hong Kong Cultural Heritage: Modern Technology to Unveil the Structural Beauty of Chinese Traditional Architecture

As part of the celebration programmes for the International Day for Monuments and Sites 2022, the exhibition is jointly organised by the Antiquities and Monuments Office and the Department of Architecture of Chu Hai College of Higher Education. It aims to enhance the public’s understanding of and interest in heritage conservation and education, encourage the community to get proactively engaged in heritage conservation, and showcase part of the accomplishments of Chu Hai College of Higher Education students in researching Hong Kong’s built heritage.  Nowadays, the introduction of 3D technologies such as 3D digital modelling, scanning and printing, AR (Augmented Realty) and VR (Virtual Realty) has brought the possibility of easier communication. These advanced technologies can enable the many layers of information on the work of heritage conservation to be analyzed, archived and presented in a more comprehensive and interesting way.  We hope you find that the 2D drawings and the 3D digital and physical models on display convey clearly the beauty of the Chinese architecture, which is part of Hong Kong’s invaluable cultural heritage.
