The Sixth Cultural Heritage Summer Course for Secondary School Students of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao SARs (Application is closed)

The Antiquities and Monuments Office (“AMO”) of Development Bureau now invites Forms 3 to 6 (or equivalent) students in Hong Kong to join the Sixth Cultural Heritage Summer Course for Secondary School Students of the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao SARs to be held from 21 to 27 July 2024 in Anhui province.

The summer course is jointly presented by National Cultural Heritage Administration, Development Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, supported by the Anhui Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration and jointly organised by Anhui Museum and AMO.

The 7-day cultural heritage summer course aims at enhancing the participants’ understanding of the regional culture of Anhui in different periods including prehistoric period, Han, Tang, Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as the development and evolution of Chinese civilisation through various learning activities such as visits, field trips, lectures and participation. It also aims at deepening the exchanges amongst the student participants of Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland. Details of the summer course are as follows:

Date: 21 July (Sunday) to 27 July 2024 (Saturday)
Venues: Hefei and Huangshan, Anhui province
Itinerary: Tentative itinerary at Annex I
Target Group: Forms 3 to 6 secondary school students or equivalent (Applicants must be permanent residents of Hong Kong SAR)
Quota: 20
Language: Putonghua (no simultaneous interpretation)
Fee: No course fee is required. Local transportation, meals, accommodation and travel insurance during the course will be provided by National Cultural Heritage Administration. Participants are required to arrange and pay the transportation cost from Hong Kong to Hefei and vice versa.

Notes to Applicants:

  1. Representatives of AMO will accompany the participants from Hong Kong to attend the summer course.
  2. Participants should have a valid travel document to enter and exit the Mainland.
  3. Participants are required to arrange and pay the transportation cost from Hong Kong to Hefei and vice versa by themselves.
  4. Due to limited quota, lot drawing will be conducted to select applicants if oversubscribed.  Successful applicants will be notified in writing by AMO. A briefing session will be arranged for the successful applicants to understand the course details, assembly time and place, as well as accommodation, local transportation, meals and so on during the course.
  5. The organiser will arrange transportation to pick up participants from Hefei Xinqiao International Airport to hotel on 21 July 2024 (Sunday) and vice versa on 27 July 2024 (Saturday).  Successful applicants are kindly reminded to arrange their round-trip air-tickets as soon as possible and send a copy of their air-tickets, Hong Kong Identity Cards and Home Return Permits by email (letianlee@amo.gov.hk), by mail or by hand to the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre of the Antiquities and Monuments Office, Kowloon Park, Haiphong Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon (Attn: Mr Lleyton Lee).
  6. If successful applicants are not available to join the course, please inform Mr Lleyton Lee of AMO (Tel. 2208 4413) during office hours as soon as possible.
  7. The organiser reserves the rights to change or reschedule the course as and when required in response to the actual situation like the weather, traffic, etc.
