National Day X Heritage Funfair

On National Day, we will launch the “National Day X Heritage Funfair”, presenting “10+1” programmes: 10 onsite programmes and one online activity. The attractive Funfair programmes allow you to play as you learn about heritage and monuments and win souvenirs by completing designated missions. Come and enjoy the games, exhibitions and concerts at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre (HDC) on Tuesday, 1 October!

Programmes highlights:

1. Five-star Guided Tours:
Star-graded docents will take you on guided tours to a number of historic buildings in Jordan and the south tip of the Kowloon Peninsula that are rarely open to the public; the professional docents will explain the architecture of different periods while exploring their features and history.

2. Lingnan Traditional Architecture – Plaster Moulding Workshops:
Master Shao Chengcun, a National Level Intangible Cultural Heritage bearer on Plaster Moulding, will introduce this traditional craft and provide an opportunity for you to make your own plaster mould.

3. Echoes Through Time: A 75-minute Concert of Chime Bells & Stone Chimes:
Eight musicians from the Shandong Song and Dance Theater will perform 12 pieces of music using ancient instruments, chime bells, stone chimes and other traditional musical instruments to boost the vibe on National Day.
Session 1: 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM
Session 2: 3:00 PM to 4:15 PM

4. Amazing Face Painting:
Join a face-painting activity by volunteers from the Hong Kong Jockey Club to make you look good on National Day!

5. Appreciating the Antiques – Treasure Hunt in the Galleries:
Take the quiz! Search through the exhibition galleries at the HDC and locate the selected exhibits to win this game!

6. Colouring Monuments:
Unleash your creativity and imagination! Fill in the line drawings of monuments with unique colours!

7. Make Your Own Badges with Relics and Monuments:
Choose your favourite historic buildings or artefacts to create your own badges!

8. “Cat Curator” Keychain Making:
Be a cat curator by making your own keychain!

9. Snapshots in the HDC:
You will find various photo “partners” in different corners of the HDC. Take a snapshot with all of them!

10. Cute Cocky Cat! Gotcha!:
Cute cocky cat often runs around the exhibition galleries to play with the exhibits. Help us capture it with a cell phone photo and get a stamp for a souvenir!

11. “Tsim Sha Tsui Heritage Walk”:
The AMO launched an e-map with selected historic buildings in Tsim Sha Tsui for you to take a leisurely stroll while appreciating Hong Kong’s built heritage!

National Day Special Offer: To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, participants aged 75, upon presenting identification, can receive a specially designed free gift at the HDC. Gifts are available on a first come, first served basis, while stock lasts.
