Chinese New Year Funfair 2025 @ Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre

The Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO) of Development Bureau will launch the “Chinese New Year Funfair 2025 @ Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre” to heighten the festive mood at the Chinese New Year. The AMO has prepared a series of programmes, including a music concert, workshops and fun games, for participants to immerse themselves in the joyful ambience whilst appreciating heritage and dinosaur fossils!

Time: 10:00am – 5:30pm
Venue: Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre (HDC) (Kowloon Park, Haiphong Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon)

Programme highlights:

1. Riddles in the Galleries:
Find lanterns with riddles in the exhibition galleries of the Heritage Discovery Centre (HDC). Answer the riddles to win a prize!

2. The Greater Bay Area Philharmonic Celebrates Chinese New Year:
The Greater Bay Area Philharmonic will give a 40-minute concert at 12 noon in the Lecture Theatre of the HDC to extend their best wishes to the audience through music.

3. Dinosaur Balloon Twisting:
Cutie balloon dinosaurs will definitely enhance the festive ambience! Come and take them back home. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis while stock lasts.

4. Colouring Monuments:
Unleash your creativity and imagination! Fill the line drawings of the monuments with unique colours!

5. DIY “Dinosaur” Badge:
The dinosaurs are waiting to meet you at Dinosaur Parlour. We have designed a series of lovely dinosaur patterns for you to make your own badges!

6. “Historic Building” Keychain Making:
We have specially designed a series of declared monument patterns for you to select to make your own unique key chain!

7. Lingnan Traditional Architecture - Plaster Moulding Workshops:
Master Shao Chengcun, a National Level Intangible Cultural Heritage bearer of the Plaster Moulding technique, designed a special pattern for this workshop. In addition to introducing this traditional craft, he will teach you how to make your own plaster moulding in this special design. Don’t miss it!!

8. Workshops on Rammed Earth :
“Rammed earth” is one of the world's most widely used traditional building techniques. It uses natural materials, which are shaped by tamping them down. Learn more about it and make your own tamped artwork! The design of the rammed earth used in the workshops is unique!

All the activities are free. Apart from the “Lingnan Traditional Architecture – Plaster Moulding Workshops” and “Workshops on Rammed Earth”, no prior registration is required.
