Originally a Hakka mixed-lineage village established in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Hoi Pa Village in Tsuen Wan has now been developed together with the adjacent areas into Tak Wah Park. The house situated at Lot 917 of Hoi Pa Village was built in 1904 by Yau Yuen-cheung (1865-1937), a scholar from the village, using rammed earth, grey bricks and timber, and has been preserved as a fine example of traditional southern Chinese village architecture.
Old House, Hoi Pa Village was declared a monument in 1986.
