Opening of “Dinosaur Parlour”

Located at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre courtyard, “Dinosaur Parlour” is opened from 20 December 2024 onwards. Visitors are welcome.

“Dinosaur Parlour” is divided into Display Zone and Preparation Zone. In Display Zone, dinosaur fossils discovered on Port Island as well as animal and plant fossils from Hong Kong are displayed along informational panels. Preparation Zone provides space for the expert of Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology and staff members to prepare fossils. The public can view closely the preparation of dinosaur fossils from Display Zone.

Opening Hours of Dinosaur Parlour
Monday to Wednesday and Friday: 10am – 6pm
Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 10am – 7pm
Christmas Eve and Chinese New Year’s Eve: 10am – 5pm
Closed on Thursdays (except public holidays) and the first two days of Chinese New Year

Remarks:
1. Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre may adopt suitable admission and crowd control measures to ensure orderly admission whenever necessary.
2. Lunch hour and short break for expert and staff members preparing dinosaur fossil will be 12:30pm to 1:30pm and 3:30pm to 3:45pm respectively. Please note that demonstration of fossil preparation will be suspended during the breaks. However, the televisions in “Dinosaur Parlour” will broadcast pre-recorded footage of dinosaur fossil preparation.

Suspension of Network System

The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre Reference Library will be suspended from 9:30am to 1:00pm on 30 April 2025 (Wednesday) for network system maintenance.
