A Programme of “Transcend – Muse Fest HK 2015”
The “Factory Hong Kong” Exhibition outlines the development of the territory’s manufacturing industry over the past one hundred years and more with a special focus on the golden era stretching from the early post-war years to the 1980s. Introducing the growth of local industries, the areas where they were located and their relationship with the local communities as well as workers’ lifestyles and the architectural characteristics of factory buildings through photos, text panels and an audio-visual programme, the exhibition shares with visitors the perseverance and achievements that characterised the generations who built Hong Kong’s industry. To coincide with the exhibition, students of the Hong Kong Design Institute are invited to design and produce visual art works that illustrate different perspectives of Hong Kong’s industrial past.
