Guided Tours

  1. “Monuments for Martyrs Against Japanese Militarism in Sai Kung” Guided Tour (Results of Open Lot Drawing)
    The Hong Kong Independent Battalion of the Dongjiang Column fought bravely against the Japanese troops in Sai Kung during World War II. The tour will visit related sites in Sai Kung and explore the stories of the guerrilla fighters.

    *“Monuments for Martyrs Against Japanese Militarism in Sai Kung” guided tour of 5 September 2015 will be cancelled as the speaker is unable to attend.
  2. “St. Stephen’s College Heritage Trail and Stanley Military Cemetery” Guided Tour (Results of Open Lot Drawing)
    The tour will visit the school campus of St. Stephen’s College which was used as an emergency military hospital and a civilian internment camp. Participants will tour the heritage trail to explore the stories behind the historic buildings and visit the Stanley Military Cemetery, a rest place for the soldiers who sacrificed themselves during World War II.
  3. “Wong Nai Chung Gap Trail and Sai Wan War Cemetery” Guided Tour (Results of Open Lot Drawing)
    The tour will visit some of the military sites along the Wong Nai Chung Gap Trail to understand the fierce fighting between the defensive force and the Japanese troops for seizing the military strategic geographical position - Wong Nai Chung Gap. The tour will also visit the Sai Wan War Cemetery, a memorial cemetery for the soldiers who died in the battles in defending Hong Kong.

Family Programme

“Guided Tour and Art Class at Wu Kau Tang” Family Programme (Results of Open Lot Drawing)
Wu Kau Tang was an area with rich stories of anti-Japanese guerrilla fighters. An elder of the village and curators of the Antiquities and Monuments Office will tell the stories of Wu Kau Tang Tsuen during the Japanese Occupation. After the guided tour, sketching of the Memorial Monument for Martyrs during World War II will follow to commemorate the martyrs sacrificed during the war.
