It was renamed as Central British School in 1923. The School was moved to Ho Man Tin in 1936 and renamed King George V School after the Second World War, which is now a Grade 2 historic building. The speaker will talk about how the foreign residents fought for a British school in Kowloon and the changes of the School before World War II.

The aesthetics of Chinese traditional vernacular architecture is a beauty manifested in the building practice achieved by the master builders. The essence of such beauty lies in the real expression of the timber structure, resulting in a unique architectural form. Most importantly, both structure and form are essentially a vernacular response to the built-environment. Talk II: What if we could travel back to the past virtually? With the latest 3D technology like 3D scanning, 3D modelling, 3D printing and virtual/augmented reality, heritage conservators can survey, analyse, archive and display historical artifacts from new perspectives. Technology can quickly and accurately capture 3D data of buildings and artefacts, which can then be virtually assessed for future use.

The construction of the reservoir commenced in 1860. Its stone arch bridges are not only the oldest ones with unique Gothic architectural style in Hong Kong’s reservoirs, but their architectural style is also found similar to the surrounding heritage assets. The lecture will introduce the stone arch bridges and heritage structures in Pok Fu Lam Reservoir. The relationship among the stone arch bridges, Bethanie and University Hall will also be unveiled. Hip Tin Temple maintained a close relationship with the Tung Wo Market, which was managed by "Shap Yeuk" – an alliance of the villages in Sha Tau Kok area. From the 1830s to the 1930s, Tung Wo Market dominated the economy of the Sha Tau Kok area. Hip Tin Temple was a main temple of Shap Yeuk. Donations from the shops of Tung Wo Market and villagers nearby were received when the Temple was rebuilt, reflecting the relationship between folk religion and trade.

A total of 26 villages were established in this valley and united through the set-up of the “Hall of Six Harmonious” (六和堂). With the development of society, Lam Tsuen Heung now looks different from the past though there are still a large number of historic buildings and cultural relics preserved by the villagers for public appreciation. Traditional ritual such as Taiping Qingjiao (太平清醮) jointly organised by these villages every 10 years is still retained today.

Prior to the revitalisation, the Old Tai Po Police Station experienced substantial interventions. The speaker will introduce how architectural conservationist assisted the project team in restoring its original appearance through old photos and post-war architectural drawings while complying with the current Buildings Ordinance.
